2012 Region 24's STARS!

Region 24 “STARS” are Sweet Adelines who are nominated by their fellow chorus members. Many women go above and beyond to help out their chorus and the Region 24 “STAR” award is a way to publicly thank them for their dedication.

Left to Right: Linda Kennedy (Syringa Sound), Bobbie Hansen (Northwest Harmony), and Rhonda Smith (Harmony of the Gorge). Also, but not in picture, Arlene Kintz (Five Valley).

Most Improved & Novice Quartet Awards

In addition to possibly placing first through fifth at Regional Competition, the Region and the Gold Country recognizes its regional quartets with two
awards: the Novice Quartet award (this comes from the Region) and the Most Improved Quartet award (this comes from Gold Country).

To be eligible to win any regional award based on performance, a contestant must receive a total score of 400 points or above, except for any regional Most Improved Awards. Most Improved Awards are not subject to achieving minimum scores.

Most Improved Quartet Award. To be eligible, a quartet must have competed in the previous year, still be registered under the name used
the previous year, and have the largest increase in score over the previous year's score. This award is given by the Gold Country -- the Region's past
regional quartet champions who are dedicated to promoting and encouraging quartetting. Winning this award provides the privilege of performing on the Show of Champions.

A Novice Quartet Award will be presented to the quartet that entered the Regional Quartet Competition for the first time and received the highest total score among eligible quartets. To be eligible, no more than two (2) members may have competed in a previous Regional or International Quartet Competition. The winner of this award is announced at the Show of Champions.
